7 signs your website is costing you customers

Your website might look fine to you. But customers judge it in seconds, usually on a phone, and they leave quickly if something feels off. Here are seven signs your site is sending people to your competitors.

1. It’s hard to use on a phone

Pinch-and-zoom text, buttons too small to tap, menus that don’t open. Most local searches happen on a phone, so this is the first thing to check. Open your site on your own phone and try to call yourself from it.

2. It loads slowly

If your homepage takes several seconds to appear on a phone, many visitors won’t wait. Large images and outdated plugins are the usual culprits.

3. Your phone number is hard to find

A customer who wants to call shouldn’t have to hunt. Your phone number belongs at the top of every page, as a tap-to-call link.

4. It doesn’t say what towns you serve

If your website never mentions Greenville, Commerce or Rockwall, Google and AI tools have a hard time knowing to show you there. Name your service area clearly, and give your main towns their own pages.

5. It’s vague about what you do

“Quality service you can trust” doesn’t tell anyone anything. Say plainly what you do, who it’s for and what makes you different, in the first few lines.

6. You can’t update it

If changing your hours or adding a photo means calling someone and waiting a week, your site will go stale. A modern WordPress site lets you make simple edits yourself.

7. You’re not sure who controls it

If a former designer holds the login or the domain is in someone else’s name, you’re one problem away from losing your website. Make sure your website, domain and hosting accounts are in your name.

What to do next

If two or more of these sound familiar, it’s probably time for a refresh. Our website design starts at $1,799, and every site is built mobile-first with SEO and AI search setup included.
