How to get more Google reviews without being pushy

Most happy customers are glad to leave a review. They just don’t think of it on their own. The businesses with the most reviews aren’t pushier; they simply ask every time, at the right moment, and make it easy.

Ask at the right moment

The best time to ask is right after the customer says something nice: when the job is finished and they thank you, when they pick up their order, or when they tell you they’d recommend you. That’s when it feels natural, not salesy.

Make it one tap

Get your direct review link from your Google Business Profile (look for “Ask for reviews” or “Share review form”). Then put it where customers will use it:

  • In a text message after the job
  • In your email receipt or invoice
  • On a small card or QR code at your counter
  • In your email signature

Keep the ask short

Something like this works well:

Thanks again for choosing us! If you have a minute, a quick Google review really helps a small local business like ours: [link]

Don’t offer discounts or gifts in exchange for reviews. Google’s rules don’t allow it, and it can get reviews removed.

Reply to every review

Good reviews: Thank them by name and mention something specific about the job. It shows future customers you’re paying attention.

Bad reviews: Stay calm and keep it short. Acknowledge the problem, apologize for their experience, and offer to make it right offline with a phone number or email. Future customers judge you more on how you respond than on the complaint itself.

Make it a habit

A few new reviews every month is better than many at once. Build the ask into your routine, the same way you send an invoice, and your review count will grow on its own.

Review strategy is part of our Google Business Profile management, included in every Local SEO plan.
